Supersexy Swingin' Sounds
October 08, 2009 01:16 PM PDT
As a DJ, producer and overall giant fan of house music, I tend to collect tunes from all corners of the genre. My focus is most often on the darker, heavier, more progressive side of the 4 x 4 beat you may know and love. However, I always keep myself and my perspective open to all aspects of house and the sounds within it that really make people move. Here in Dallas, some of the more prominent artists and DJ's that tend to create a following are those who dabble in the funkier, groovier labels and releases of late. This has caused me to dig for and ultimately begin a substantial collection of more of the deeper tech house sound that has fallen into favor over the last few years. At the beginning of this summer, I had amassed such a huge amount of this sound that it was clear a mix needed to be recorded and shared. Without further ado, please enjoy 73 minutes of some of the most feel-good house I have ever had the pleasure of compiling. TRACKLISTING

When it comes to electronic dance music and the multi-faceted approach to sound and it's creation, there are a select few genres that will cause your derriere to grüv uncontrollably while wearing an unstoppable smile. One of those is classified as "Breakbeat" - "A syncopated and irregular drum pattern that is electronically repeated to form a fast rhythm, esp. for dance music". For some reason, this rhythm causes throngs of gorgeous women to dance with reckless abandon within your vicinity. I swear. On that note, I give you a treadmill-run-enhancing 38 minutes of some bumping breakbeats I recorded while on vacation back home to AZ this summer.....

Around Christmas of '08, I wanted to give out an upbeat mix to accompany all those on their travels back home for the holidays. Stepping back into the feel-good progressive house realm of things comes "Deep House Digs". A consistent mix of smooth melodies and warm basslines....sure to properly accompany any road trip or adventure. TRACKLISTING

Around this time last year, I took a 3 week trip home to northern Arizona to visit my family. At the time, I had just begun dating this wonderful lady and I was not looking forward to almost a month away from her. As a way of channeling my thoughts, I began compiling a mix for her of some of the most ethereal downtempo and ambient tunes that were influencing my mind. The result is 50 minutes of relaxing melodies and smooth chillout beats to ease the stresses and worries of the day. TRACKLISTING
(recorded 10-18-08) Crush Mix
September 27, 2009 11:50 AM PDT
I'm the type of DJ who loves to give the people what moves them most. Searching for inspiration in between recordings, I asked a very good friend of mine what he would like to hear on the next mix. He plainly stated, "Something to crush me". With that in mind, I gave him the "Crush Mix". A non-stop 80 minute ride of blaring electro, pounding progressive and dirty tech. TRACKLISTING

September 27, 2009 04:50 PM PDT
In late 2005, I left my cozy hometown of Flagstaff in northern Arizona to pursue life in the big city. My ambitions had outgrown the little mountain town and I needed to move somewhere that had a much more expansive music scene as my addiction for sound and involving myself with the people that create it is ever-expanding. I found myself in Texas of all places, so the big city was not a problem to locate! However, connecting with the right people and finding the scene I wanted to be a part of proved to be much more difficult. During this time, solitude was a constant companion and caused me to dig for music on a much more ambient and downtempo level. Alot of the artists and tracks I came across gave an overwhelming sense of comfort that I wasn't finding in people. Months went by and the collection grew. Eventually, I began to come across the people and places I had been yearning to discover, but I never stopped compiling the songs that were there for me when no one else could be. This mix is a reflection of that time in my life when I just needed someone to understand. TRACKLISTING
(recorded 7-21-08) It's Necessary
September 27, 2009 01:42 PM PDT
Late in the summer of '08, I had been collecting quite a bit of tech and deeper progressive and was finding the need for a few choice favorites to be on a disc. Without being too picky, I grabbed a handful of some of the best stuff I had at the moment and whipped up a 53 minute slice of progressive tech tastiness. TRACKLISTING
(recorded 7-18-08) The Bass Album
October 15, 2009 09:36 AM PDT
As I was cruising through my old minidisc collection and the few recordings I still have archived on them, I came across this mix of some of my favorite progressive house tracks at that time. I recall putting this mix together for a friend who wanted a nice selection of some bass-heavy tunes to work over the new system he had installed in his car. Figured I should share it with all the podcast fans! The audio is a touch raw as this is a transfer from an all-vinyl minidisc recording. However, it's still 70 rocking minutes of prog-house goodness! TRACKLISTING

About VitalI've been an infatuated fan, DJ and producer of underground dance music since the late 90's. I learned to play guitar in '92, which gave me a substantial boost in understanding the structure and keys of writing music. Guided by my obsessive love for new sounds, I began DJing around 1999 in Flagstaff, AZ. My first remix was with friend and fellow disk jockey DJ Trek of California. Trek helped me to produce our first single, "Down Underground", in 2001. Since then, I have been stoking an overwhelming passion for sharing music that I produce as well as that which influences me to those willing to listen. Feedback is always appreciated as it enhances your future listening experiences. Let me know what you like & which sounds are enhancing your world!
